These are the people who will bring your lessons to life

Our academic staff will offer you feedback on assignments, encourage you to make your point of view, spark a debate and put your learning into practice. You will get to know them during your studies, contact them when you are unsure about learning materials, ask them to offer further reading or reach out to them when making study decisions.

So at RDI we know these are important people. Their success is truly your success.

Learning at a distance is not easy for students because mostly they are working full time whilst trying to study. I admire this effort immensely and have every admiration for the way our students manage their work, personal and study time so effectively.

Professor David John Newton, Programme Director for Undergraduate Business programmes

The Business and Management Faculty is the largest of our academic groups. Through this Faculty we offer many of our most popular courses covering a full range of levels from HND through to MBA. Our experienced Admissions Advisors can help you identify which is the right course for you and help you through the application process. Most students enter at the start of the programme but appropriately qualified applicants may be eligible for an accelerated top-up route.

For those who are working managers, the MBA remains one of the most important qualifications that can be achieved. Universally recognised, the MBA ensures that its graduates have a firm foundation in key functional areas of business and management such as Marketing, Finance and HRM. MBA students also study business strategy and complete a dissertation showing how they can apply their learning to a real business problem. Other modules are fitted around these depending on the student’s interests. In addition to a general MBA, RDI also provides named routes in Marketing, HRM, Finance, Law, Service Excellence, Project Management, Management Consultancy and Innovation, Enterprise and the Circular Economy.

Master degrees, like the MBA, usually require a degree for entry, although those with substantial work experience are welcomed. It is also possible to complete a specialist Masters degree. Those we offer include the MSc Strategic Engineering Management, MSc Strategic Project Management, MA Strategic Human Resource Management and MA Strategic Marketing.

For those interested in undergraduate study we offer a range of Bachelor degrees and HNDs in Business and Management related areas. These include BA (Hons) Business; BA (Hons) Business (Human Resource Management); BA (Hons) Business (Tourism); HND Business; and HND Travel and Tourism. We know that many students do not want to commit to a full degree and so offer a range of Certificate and Diploma courses, such as the Graduate Diploma in Management and the Certificate of Higher Education in Management.

All the awards studied through RDI are validated and quality assured by leading UK public universities and include: Anglia Ruskin University, Bradford University and the University of Sunderland. HNDs are offered in conjunction with Pearson. Quality assurance is extremely important to us and we work hard to ensure that the experience that we give our students is the equivalent to that provided by partner universities.

The Business and Management Faculty is also home to the well qualified and experienced tutors who deliver the programmes in this area. RDI tutors are appointed in accordance with our rigorous selection criteria and are all approved by our university partners. RDI academic staff will normally have postgraduate qualifications and extensive experience either of teaching in higher education or of working in a relevant industry. Many RDI tutors are actively undertaking consultancy or publishing research and all have a commitment to developing their subject specialism. A list of staff with their subject interests is given below.

  • Will there be any classroom lectures or workshops? Will I be able to meet my tutor face-to-face?

Unless your particular course mentions it, there are no lectures or workshops. All of our courses are set up for distance learning. But you’ll be able to contact your tutors or student support co-ordinator whenever you need to.

  • How can I contact my tutor?

There a variety of ways to contact your module tutors and receive feedback. Tutors will often use forums to give general feedback which all students will benefit from, plus you can message and email your tutor. This means that you can communicate when it is most convenient and ensure it’s as efficient as possible.

  • Are the materials in printed format or online?

It depends on your particular course. Usually it’s one or the other; sometimes it’s a bit of both. If they’re not online, we courier study materials to you. Don’t worry, you’ll get everything you need to complete your course successfully.
