Exciting new board appointment

Resource Development International (RDI) Ltd is pleased to announce the appointment of Prof Kel Fidler FREng as Non-Executive Director to the RDI Board from 1st June 2010. Prof Fidler has had a highly distinguished and professional career most recently as Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of Northumbria University for 7 years until September 2008. His 45 year career spans ‘old and ‘new’ universities including 15 years with the University of Essex, 5 years as Professor of Electronics with the Open University and 13 years with University of York culminating in his appointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor at York before moving to Northumbria.

Prof Fidler is currently Chairman of the Engineering Council responsible for the Standards and Regulation of the Engineering Profession, is a member of the Board of EngineeringUK, a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and an Honorary Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology. Of particular relevance to RDI, Prof Fidler has a significant experience in quality systems and processes as a qualified Lead Assessor for BS5750/ISO9000 and MQA01 Quality Systems and has made substantial contributions to the development of quality systems in academia.

Prof Fidler’s appointment adds significantly to the academic standing of both RDI and its sister organisation, The Institute of Business Administration (IBAM), and forms part of a broader strategy to develop further our university standards of quality and management of higher education provision.
