A) I work full-Time. I have been working in a travel agency for almost 2 years now.

Q) Why did you choose RDI?

A) Firstly, for myself, combining full time work and studies was a challenge from the onset, however, the online program was preferable to me where I could give my full time and energy without being lethargic at the end of the day. I can choose my timings and hence give my full potential to my course without any distractions.

Q) Did you always think you'd be studying for your qualifications?

A) I learnt about HR Management in my A level year, studying Psychology. From then on, I researched  it, spoke to career counselors and specialists in the field. After I started working and gained experience about the office environment and management, did I realize it was a perfect career choice for me.

Q) Any issues/adversity along the way?

A) I did encounter difficulties such as choosing the right meduim of study, the accreditation, where I would be doing the course. However, as adversities go, it is just a stepping stone to wanting to achieve something and proving yourself against all odds.

Q) How has Higher Education changed your career, personal life or you as a person?

A) In terms of my career, if it wasn't for Psychology which I pursued during my A level, I would not have been interested in organization behavior and comprehensively researched it as a career choice. After high school, I completed a course in IATA (airline booking and ticketing system) and was given an opportunity to work 3 months after my high school graduation. At work, I tuned myself in both ticketing as well as management, by studying the behavior patterns and aspects of management, from recruiting, evaluation and qualities needed for a HR Manager. My school years helped me bond with not only my siblings, with each other helping out in the homework area, but my relationship with my friends continue till today, long after high school. I learnt, upon death of a family member in high school, I was able to withstand pressure, take responsibility, hold sufficient patience when required and embrace a positive attitude. In school, I learnt reliability and dependability and the ability to organise and manage time and schedule around activities without having to interfere school.

Q) What do you believe are the main benefits of distance learning?

A) Among the benefits I believe of distance learning is: students are able to complete their education no matter their work schedule. Course material is accessible at all times, from anywhere in the world that has internet access. I have discovered the distance learning works best with me as I am a visual learner and prefer myself reading, re-reading lectures, discussing and grasping the diversity of opinions. With distance learning, generally there is no boredom, and is flexible. Since I prefer individual attention, I will have one on one interaction with the tutors. Furthermore, distance learning is less expensive with more convenience of a range of content through research articles, online chats, email and in newsgroup discussions etc.

Q) What will your qualification give you and what is next?

A) The course will be supplement to my academic qualifications and help myself gain a foothold in this diverse field. I will be able to understand employment, relate people management to aspects of business, understand the nature of HRM and make a change in my office environment.

Q) Anything to add?

A) Lastly, I hope to advance my career in HR Management by successfully completing this course and in the process sharpen my skills as a team player, computer and presentation skills, business and cultural awareness, communication, multi tasking, develop my sense of responsibility and accountability and self improvement.
