A) 29

Q) Where do you live?

A) Kingston, Jamaica

Q) Which course are you currently studying?

A) LLB

Q) What are your living circumstances?

A) I am currently staying with friends, who were kind enough to offer me a place to stay when I needed it. I have no children.

Q) Do you work full-time or part-time and where?

A) At the moment I work part time as a private tutor.

Q) Why did you choose RDI?

A) I chose RDI because I always wanted to study in the UK. Since I am unable to do so, RDI provided a way for me to be able to gain accredited top quality UK degree at a reasonable cost. They have an interest free payment plan and I am able to get support from the RDI office in Jamaica. The matriculation requirements was also a catch as they took into consideration my age and past experience. RDI is very flexible.

Q) Did you always think you'd be studying for your qualifications?

A) Yes, although it was a dream. I got accepted at the University of Cumbria but that was derailed. When I returned to Jamaica and herd of RDI I got a second chance to get a UK degree. So I applied and became the first if not the only Jamaican on the LL.B Programme.

Q) Any adversity or issues along the way?

A) My main adversity is the cost. although since I came back to Jamaica I was only able to secure a part time job, hence its a struggle for me to afford the fees, added to that the exchange rate is about Ja $ 90.00 to $1.00 USD but am remaining positive as when I am finished I the degree will increase my earning potential.

Q) How has Higher Education changed your career, personal life or you as a person?

A) I recently went on an interview at a very large company. The HR officer was very impress with the way I articulated myself and although I didnt get the job I was told that when a position came up that required my skill I will be considered.

Q) What do you believe are the main benefits of distance learning?

A) The main benefits of Distance Education is the flexibility to study at my own pace and the payments are significantly lower than a full time university. You are able to work while you study this makes it easier for like myself who can't afford to study full time and give us a chance to get qualified.

Q) What will your qualification give you and what is next?

A) My qualification will give my a chance to compete for jobs globally. It will improve my confidence, increase my earning potential and market ability.
