Q) Where do you live?

A) Warwick, Bermuda

Q) Which course are you currently studying?

A) MBA (Service Excellence)

Q) What are your living circumstances?

A) Live with my family. I have two daughters and one grandson. One of my girls is a Lawyer and the other is a Human Resource Manager. My grandson is 9yrs. and the light of my life.

Q) Do you work full-time or part-time and where?

A) I work full-time as a Clinical Nurse Manager in the only general hospital on the island. I am in charge of a 37 bedded acute medical unit with a staff of twenty-four nurses and ten nursing auxiliaries.

Q) Why did you choose RDI?

A) I saw the advertisment in the newspaper and immediately went online to investigate whether this programme would meet my needs. The website is user friendly and the comments about RDI were favorable. They were responsive to my needs and concerns.

Q) Did you always think you'd be studying for your qualifications?

A) I am a life long learner and have often secured my position before completion of the qualification. While the qualification is recommended, it is not required. I, however, recognize the value that the educational component brings to the overall job experience. Therefore, I have always sought to educate myself to the qualification requirements, at the very least.

Q: Any adversity or issues along the way?

A) There are always issues but none that can't be overcome. My major issue during pursuit of my BA was a life threatening illness. I had to put back completion of my degree for one year but I was finally able to complete it and move forward toward my Masters.

Q) How has Higher Education changed your career, personal life or you as a person?

A) It has made me a more well-rounded person, a critical thinker and very humble. I am more tolerant and have a greater interest in helping others to achieve their goals through the avenue of education.

Q) What do you believe are the main benefits of distance learning?

A) Distance learning teaches one to be disciplined and have integrity. You develop at your individual pace and use skills you might never realize you have using another form of learning. Another major benefit is having the ability to continue working while learning and being able to directly apply your learning to both your personal and professional life.

Q) What will your qualification give you and what is next?

A) I have two goals that this MBA will assist me in attaining. I would like to develop a service excellence curriculum to teach to nursing students in the new Associate Degree programme at the community college in Bermuda and to improve the delivery of quality care at the hospital where I presently work
