Q) Where do you live?

A) St.Lucia, Carribbean 

Q) Which course are you currently studying?

A) Diploma in Management (University of Wales)

Q) What are your living circumstances?

A) I live with my husband and seventeen year old daughter in our own home. Yes I have two children. My son is married and has a ten year old daughter.

Q) Do you work full-time or part-time and where?

A) I work full time with the Ministry of Education and Culture as an Education Officer in the Adult Education Department.

Q) Why did you choose RDI?

A) I was looking through the newspaper and I came across information on RDI and since I was interested in pursuing some form of studies I opted for RDI.

Q) Did you always think you'd be studying for your qualifications?

A) Yes

Q) Any adversity or issues along the way?

A) Work related activities may hinder my ability to complete some assignment on a timely basis as somtimes my job may require that I travel. however, I'll endeavour to do my best. I have serious thyroid problems and from time to time i may have to go overseas for treatment.

Q) How has Higher Education changed your career, personal life or you as a person?

A) It has helped be become more efficient in my work duties especially as I conduct lots of training in adult education for new recruits in our programme. I am alot more knowledgeable, more articulate, more confidence and can contribute more meaningfully to the community and the nation as a whole. It has certainly enhanced my personal life and development.

Q) What do you believe are the main benefits of distance learning?

A) Meeting new people helps you develop a sense of discipline in your studies, time management is learnt or consolidated. It gives you an opportunity to be more assertive because you develop that sense of purpose and determination, perseverance, discipline in managing your time between work and study. Your are assured that your resources to facilitate learnig are made available. Essentially one of the key factors is time management.

Q) What will your qualification give you and what is next?

A) It will help me in acquiring knowledge in my areas of difficiencies thereby making me more efficient in the discharge of my duties. I am hoping to retire in a couple of years from now so obviously this will add to my levels of qualification in case I wish to seek part time employment. It will broaden my experience, understanding and wisdom in another field of endeavour.

Q) Anything you'd like to add?

I am looking forward to working with my tutors and most importantly promising to do my best no matter what the circumstances so that I can achieve success in my studies.
