In 2009, Ikpong enrolled onto the MBA (University of Wales) with RDI. Below is an insight into his studies.
Q) Where do you live?
A) Lagos, Nigeria
Q) Where do you work?
A) I work full time, self employed continuing the business established by my late father.
Q) Did you always think you’d study to MBA level?
A) In this course I am not just studying for a qualification, but for knowledge and modern management techniques that I can apply to turn around our company.
Q) Any adversity or issues along the way?
A) So far I have not experienced any insurmountable problems. I am still learning to adapt to the pace of study I think is needed for the course vis a vis my job requirements. Hopefully I will adjust adequately as time goes by.
Q) How has higher education changed your career, life or you as a person?
A) I am now more exposed to organized resources of knowlege which are applicable to real life situations. I try to apply this knowledge at work, in my house and in my daily life. I get a feeling that I am a more organized person than I was before joining the course.
Q) What will an MBA give you and where next?
A) My qualification will boost my morale and give me new impetus to apply the acquired knowlege and skills to turn around the fortunes of my company. The next step I think will probably be to enrol for Doctor of Business Administration
Q) Anything else you'd like to add?
A) RDI has provided me with a platform to achieve my ambition of studying for a UK Degree. The resourses at my disposal and the interactive approach to learning constantly challenges me to try to improve on a daily basis. I think there are millions out there willing to have this kind of opportunity and RDI should plan to extend its spread. |
