Foraging
Something I like to do is learn new skills. So for Mr C’s birthday (which got missed as it is 4 days before the wedding, clever Mrs C can now buy double gifts for the rest of her life) we went foraging. I have to recommend this to everyone with a remote interest in food / survival / herbal remedies or if you just want to know the best antidote for nettle stings.
So I text into Radio 2 to read out a message about Mr and Mrs C going into the forest... (not for that)... but to gather their tea. And that’s when I realised... if you want to be somebody; you need to do something different.
The next day I began a new ‘system’ for studying.
Time to change
For every mark I get another £1 I spend on shopping in Cornwall. I need a system to bring me back down to earth. If I can sell any of the junk in the spare room too that is good for a clothing allowance/new ‘Mr Penguins’ for Ruby (yes, that was a penguin, and no, I did not name her). So now I have a goal to write the best essay I have ever written (well, maybe not, but I will have a damn good go at it!).
So I must overcome tiredness and my drive and convert that bad energy into study energy.
Theory application... in theory
What a wonderful month to both read about business strategy, then watch and experience it too. If I get nothing else out of studying, I get to watch and predict everyone’s reactions to the strategic approach the NHS is taking. “How very interesting” I say to myself. Not sure I could do a better job myself, I decide, why not tell someone about it? The next thing I know changes are being made and considerations are taken, we are taking a detour.
So what have I learned today? The ‘Learning space’ activities the tutors give you are not just for you but they are for your organisation's advantage too. Highlight the points which will help your organisation through the ‘recession’ then you are guilt free from “I told you so!s”.
Everyone Wins
What to read?
There is a long reading list and I am never really sure what is needed and what was extra. So I like to skim textbooks for words I recognise from the learning material then I look up items that have been referenced in the textbooks and slowly dive into a world of theories and strategies that take up so much space in my head I swear its beginning to push out my verbal cortex: I begin to lose the ability to speak.
By the end of a good study session, Mr C will ask what I learned today and sometimes, I'm not sure what I learned. So I answer ‘something interesting’ and we leave it at that.
