Andy Cain

Name: Andy Cain
Course: BSc
BSc Business Computing

“I left school at 16 and went straight into work – I had no clue what I really wanted to do and I wanted to earn a wage! Years later I bought a house and had all of the associated bills that go with it so I couldn’t then go back to study full-time. I was about 23 when I realised that I regretted not going to uni, so I went to some uni open days and did some searches on the Internet and came across RDI.

My employers are very supportive, and they’ve even sponsored me for some of my modules. I’ve had a promotion since completing my HND too.
I started on the HNC Computing and progressed onto the HND, and now I’m on the BSc (Hons) Business Computing top-up. It’s been busy at work so I’ve had to slow my studies down a bit, but that’s one of the good things about the course.

The support on my course has been fantastic – the turnaround of my marking and the quality of the feedback is great. This is one thing that I was worried about when I enrolled but it’s been fantastic.

I think I am in a better position than my friends who went to uni at 17 or 18, as I have built some life skills and experience that they didn’t have at the time of studying. I also won’t graduate with all of the student debt that they have! “
