A brief history of Arden University, RDI and how we deliver on our promise
Since 1990, the year of our inception, we’ve been giving learners worldwide an opportunity to further their studies in a way that suits their lifestyle. We partner with UK universities to provide access to a broad range of degrees, masters and MBA programmes by online distance learning. We are proud that with our help, thousands of students realise their goals and make a difference to the world around them.
We started as a family-owned business in 1990, and we still carry with us the same core values we begun with almost 25 years ago: a professional and caring approach with high standards in everything we do.
Everyone works towards achieving our vision: change your world through innovative learning.
We’re here to help change people’s worlds through higher education and are passionate about delivering the best service and support to help you achieve your goals.
We hold in high regard academic standards and quality, as we know these are determinants of our students’ success. To ensure value is delivered through all programmes, our partner universities are audited by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), the body that audits all UK HEI.
In April 2014, after undergoing scrutiny by the QAA, we were awarded Taught Degree-Awarding Powers (TDAP). TDAP gives UK higher education providers the right to award bachelors degrees with honours, and other taught higher education qualifications, up to and including the level of a masters degree. In August 2015 we achieved University Title and changed our name from Resource Development International Ltd to Arden University Ltd – the first dedicated distance learning university in the UK since the Open University was formed more than 50 years ago. We know the high esteem in which RDI is held by students worldwide and so the RDI name will continue as part of Arden University.
Our Quality Management System has been assessed against ISO9001:2008 requirements. The scope of the registration is “The provision of high quality, innovative and flexible higher education”.
Arden University (formerly Resource Development International) is reviewed by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education, the independent body entrusted with monitoring and advising on standards and quality in UK higher education.

Arden University has taught degree-awarding powers (TDAP) which are granted by the Privy Council, a formal body of advisors to Her Majesty the Queen, following rigorous scrutiny by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) for Higher Education.
Details of Arden University’s taught degree-awarding powers are available here.
Students in more than 150 countries are studying through us and over 90% of them combine work and study. We currently have over 7,000 students accessing study materials through our interactive ilearn platform. Our tutors and support coordinators help deliver this content in an engaging way through tutorials, online forums, live chats and formative feedback.
